Training programs further develop steel production facility

ShibataFenderTeam has a new welding supervisor for the steel fabrication at our production facility in Germany, ShibataFenderTeam Produktion (SFTP). Mr. Helge Wallmuth just successfully completed the course to become a welding technologist according to DIN EN ISO 14731. This additional skill set is an important gain and a further enhancement of the manufacturing quality of our production facility and the entire company.

 

Mr. Wallmuth, now having the qualification as welding technologist, means that the quality assurance from order intake until delivery of the finished product to the client can be supervised by one more internal specialist. Our current and longstanding welding engineers, now have a skilled and experienced colleague that can also cover for them and provide competent support alongside.

Besides guiding our highly skilled welders, Mr. Wallmuth is also able to determine the most suitable welding procedures for each individual project, and takes care of the quality control and consulting during the installation of our materials, and compile respective documentation. Being able to support the supervision of the welding activities before, during and after the production, facilitates the production processes at our factory.

Mr. Wallmuth started in ShibataFenderTeam Produktion in March 2016 as Production Manager for steel panels and HD-PE Fenders as well as coating/corrosion protection. His tasks range from creating shift schedules for our workers, quality assurance, ordering and administrating tools and welding-consumables, including consulting and support for our clients worldwide.

As the company’s health and safety officer, he is also responsible to train all employees in health and safety regulations at work. Before joining SFTP, Mr. Wallmuth completed his studies as ‘State certified technician’ (mechanical engineering) and gained valuable working experience in welding and as a plant fitter, including numerous assembly operations throughout Europe.



ShibataFenderTeam grows its employees and their professional skills through numerous further education and professional development measures, e.g. Mr. Wallmuth and Mr. Hapke, who is responsible for coating procedures at SFTP, have completed a 3 weeks course at the Institute for Corrosion Protection (IKS) in Dresden, Germany. Both successfully finished the class with the final exams as ‘group leader for coating works in steel building’ according to ZTV-ING 4-3 (European Coating Certification). From now on, SFTP is authorized to professionally execute corrosion-protection work on also external steel marine structures and to document these works independently.
