SFT in-house seminars and university lectures on fender design in Indonesia

Following our first seminars on fender design throughout Indonesia, we have received tremendous positive feedback from the participants. Several participants requested in-house seminars to follow-up on the presented topics and to specify project related questions on fender design.

Together with our partner PT Suprabakti we decided to continue the knowledge-sharing with our clients. The first in-house training took place at the engineering department of PT. Semen Indonesia and PT. Terminal Petikemas Surabaya. It was an honor to visit both companies. The discussions circulated around maintenance which is an important topic for end-users. We wish both companies great success for their future development and we hope we get the chance to support them again in the future.

SHIBATAFENDERTEAM GOES TO CAMPUS is one of this year’s big agendas of Suprabakti, organized by its training division called SummA Learning Center. Together, we aim to share our knowledge to young engineers that soon will be entering the working industries.
The first universities where we were invited to hold a guest lecture are the University of Indonesia (UI) and Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) at the beginning of April. Our lecture at UI’s Faculty of Civil Engineering - Port design course covered fender selection, energy calculation, and rubber compound.
ITB is one of the few universities that has Ocean Engineering in their undergraduate program. The students were curious about fender spacing and examples of failures in the industry, all answered in detail by SFT representative Chris Millwood.

We have received amazing responses and enthusiasm from both universities. These knowledge sharing session can be a helpful guideline for the student’s future working life.

We wish all students a lot of success with their studies at these renowned Indonesian universities.

As one of the world's leading fender specialists, we consider it our responsibility to do our part for the industry by sharing our know-how with engineers and end users alike.
